Arc Raiders dev said "we do analyse behavior and match appropriately" in what is the closest confirmation of ours that PvP loot rats get cage match lobbys while PvP hobgoblins have their own.

Arc Raiders developers have confirmed that they analyze player behavior when making matches. It appears that even the worst of your actions can have a consequence.

Arc Raiders was the most popular multiplayer game of 2025. While Black Ops 7 & Battlefield 6 are doing well, neither seem to have a similar community as Embark Studios newest game. A large part of this popularity comes from its social media presence. That is, players are recorded being the worst on earth in order to loot some nice items rather than fight the common enemy.

Embark, however, has not confirmed if your past behavior will determine who you're matched with. The idea is that rapscallions should be paired only with rapscallions while civilized people stick together. Robert Sammelin from Embark told PC Gamer that the matching process "is complex" and "we do analyze behavior."

It's clear that this isn’t a major, overt confirmation about how the games works. I think that, considering how secretive Embark is about its matching system, it's a significant detail to disclose.

Next time you take me out and probably succeed in doing so, remember that I'm not good enough to save my loot. Your actions could have serious consequences. And you might (probably) end up facing a bigger fish if Embark pairs you with fellow troublemakers.

Enough monkeys on a typewriter produce Shakespeare. Enough gamers and a loot system will produce exploits. Embark Studios' Arc Raiders team experienced it firsthand after watching millions of gamers find ways to get into loot-hotspots normally only accessible with rare keycards. They did this by running really hard around a corner. This was not listed on the studio bingo card and wasn't the first surprise.

Robert Sammelin tells PC Gamer "We've been surprised by quite a bit." You can only test the game internally. Your own team's excitement for loot will not always match that of gamers. The Arc Raiders loot sheet will assist you in this, and it's legal.

Sammelin: "Other items are more or lesser known because we need to continually find ways to waterproof our experience, and figure out what to do about bugs or general exploits."

Sammelin explains that "we tried and tested many things in the past," but seeing "the players use especially the physicality (of a game) like this is "genuinely astonishing." It is "mostly lovely things," he says. Watching how players have worked through and developed corner cases identified during testing by Embark, but also a variety of unexpected directions, is "genuinely surprising."

Embark has just recently fixed a multitude of glitches out-of-bounds which grew popular after the usual hacks were stopped. (By filling illegally accessed spaces with flamethrowers - may I add?). It's similar to the arms races between hackers and anticheat. You close one backdoor then another appears.
